Why you'd want to live in Brookhaven
Brookhaven is a city in the northeastern suburbs of Atlanta, in western DeKalb County. On July 31, 2012, Brookhaven was approved in a referendum to become DeKalb County's 11th city. Historic Brookhaven is the historic residential neighborhood from which the area derives its name. It has homes surrounding the Capital City Country Club, many designed by a number of well-known Atlanta architects of the pre-war period. A majority of the neighborhood technically lies within the extreme northeastern section of the city of Atlanta. North Brookhaven is mostly suburban with residential subdivisions and two large parks, Blackburn Park and Murphey Candler Park, and the Nancy Creek PATH trail. And Peachtree Golf Club, which was founded by Bobby Jones. North Brookhaven has top rated public and private schools, including Marist School, Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic School, St. Martin's Episcopal School, Montgomery Elementary School, and the Kittredge Magnet School. Another popular area is Town Brookhaven, a sprawling mixed-use complex with big-brand, local retailers, hip shops and restaurants. Another popular spot is along Dresden Drive-- you'll find a large selection of dining choices. Brookhaven is also home to Oglethorpe University.
